Ampersand Ümlaut "Logo" shirt - black
As rock band origins go, Ampersand Ümlaut's is about as boilerplate as one could get, but a peek under the surface is where it gets interesting.
Founding members Leopold DCLXVI and Ferdinand III 1/2 fill us in: "We all went to the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria," Leopold starts off, "and Ferdinand and I were taking the Classical Instrumental Studies program, and Napolean (Bonerparte - guitars/harpsichord etc.) was fully immersed in the Old Music - ie. super old instruments - Program..."
Ferdinand interjects, "...and Napolean kept getting kicked out of class because he kept playing AC/DC and Deep Purple tunes on the harpsichord. Leo and I could hear him halfway across the school... turns out Napolean had rigged a mike in the harpsichord connected to amp and had it cranked! Leo and I started to get act up so we could meet with Napolean in detention. We had an instant connection and began jamming together on the weekends."
Leopold continues: "Edward (The Frivolous - lead singer/glockenspiel) was in the Stage Design program, and his teachers would always complain about him singing 'Whole Lotta Rosie' at the top of his lungs during class - but we knew we found our frontman. Maximilian (The Corrupt - drums/tabor/gong) was the pride of the orchestra Percussion section... except for when he'd break into Led Zeppelin's 'Moby Dick', and there was our drummer. We quickly built up a cult following playing the Vienna rock clubs, signed a record deal within a year, and it was 'auf Wiedersehen' to the Academy. The rest, as they say, is Rock and Roll-Geschichte."
